Spacecraft Party aka BREAKZORS!

The Breakbeat Alliance

On 29 January, one of the most exciting events in Latvia related to breakbeat music - Spacecraft Party aka BREAKZORS! The Breakbeat Alliance – will take place in club ESSENTIAL, Riga. As the title already suggests, this project combines military and space activities and its aim is to popularise and promote the development of breakbeat music in Latvia. Although the project is basically oriented towards breaks, this time it will also present musical styles such as minimal, progressive, trance and techno, as well as a massive video show specially prepared for this gig.



The spacecraft will be commanded by GENERAL MIDI - a British breaks act, which undoubtedly is one of the most specific and interesting projects in the whole breakbeat scene.

Paul Crossman and his studio partner Eelz started the breaks-fuelled project in 1998 and called it GENERAL MIDI after a standard preset on a keyboard. GENERAL MIDI productions have always been the work of both of them, but they decided early on that just Paul would go out to DJ under the name. He also does most of the interviews and promotion himself. Eelz basically works in the studio, and with his great attention to detail is the perfect complement.

As time passed by, GENERAL MIDI released a number of excellent singles and albums, and their popularity and the number of gigs to which they were invited to play increased. The project has remixed high-profile acts like Moby and Timo Maas, and been pretty much ever-present at the Breakspoll awards, picking up awards and nominations.

The visual atmosphere of this magnificent space trip will be created by Hypnosis Group (www.hypnosis.lv), which has with great success prepared video projections for all Dance Summit events. The video show of Hypnosis Group will be complemented by the performance of VJ Pe Joke (ILLEGAL DJ TEAM RIGA) and a fantastic light show by LJ Lightboy (ILLEGAL DJ TEAM RIGA).
