Bodyrox

Nick Bridges story

Nick Bridges is one of the most technically-gifted DJs in the UK and one half of chart-topping production duo Bodyrox, who set the world alight in 2006 with their crossover UK #2 smash ‘Yeah Yeah’. In 2007 the multi-talented DJ/producer, label owner and compiler of the hugely-successful Housexy compilations for Ministry Of Sound is firmly on track to enjoy his most successful year to date.

With residencies at some of the most influential clubs in the world including Ministry Of Sound, Fabric and The Cross, a hectic worldwide DJ schedule, several more productions slated for release on major labels including Positiva, Data, Phonetic and Eye Industries/Universal and his own Juki Records imprint, it seems the sky is the limit for this gifted young Artist.

Few can think of Nick Bridges without mentioning the global hit that is Bodyrox’s ‘Yeah Yeah’. What began as one of the biggest tunes at the 2006 Winter Music Conference slowly developed into the dancefloor monster that is it today. Picking up early support from the likes of Pete Tong, Erick Morillo, Judge Jules, Dave Pearce, Fergie, Annie Nightingale and the Trophy Twins on radio one alone, ‘Yeah Yeah’ was hammered in clubs for months before ex-Portobella singer Luciana laid down her feisty punk vocals on the track and it blew up worldwide.

The single debuted at #2 in the official UK Top 40 Charts in October 2006 and remained in the Top Ten for several weeks, beaten only to the #1 spot by another of 2006’s big crossover tracks, Fedde Le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’.

The global success of Bodyrox’s ‘Yeah Yeah’ has led to many assumptions that Nick is a relatively new face on the global house scene, although the truth is he has been a mainstay for nearly 8 years; it all started in 1999.

After a number of years playing throughout the UK, Nick debuted at Ministry Of Sound in London and within a year had moved to 'The Box', signalling the start of a long-running relationship with the famed clubbing brand. The success of these early opportunities led to a succession of dates and residencies across Europe, most notably in Ibiza where he played Privilege, Pacha and Space. 2001 saw Nick appointed MOS’s World Tour Resident, which saw him tour the world for nearly three years.

Returning to the UK in 2003, Nick became MOS’s Saturday Sessions resident alongside Mark Knight and then began hosting the Saturday Sessions radio show on MOS Radio. It was at this time that Nick linked with Jon Pearn – of Full Intention fame – to begin producing as Pearn & Bridges.

The pair’s debut single – ‘Ruff Beats’ - was signed to Seamus Haji’s Big Love imprint and achieved significant Hype/Club chart success, signifying the start of a successful production partnership.

In 2004, Nick was tipped as 'one to watch' by IDJ mag, a sentiment shared by the industry and clubbers alike who, later that year, nominated Nick as ‘Breakthrough DJ’ in the inaugural House Music Awards.

With Jon Pearn, Nick launched Juki Records in 2005; their debut - '$treet Price' - received unanimous support from the UK press (5/5 IDJ Mag August 2005) and DJ support from the likes of Deep Dish, Sander Kleinenberg, Mutiny and many more. Later that year Nick again linked with MOS to compile and mix the brand’s new Housexy compilation series. Capping off a massive year, Nick became the latest specialist to join Vibe FM, one of the UK's biggest dance stations.

Fast forward to 2007 and Nick is still at the top of his game. Late 2006 saw him win ‘Guest Mix Of The Year’ on Andi Durrant’s Galaxy show and this year he will take his brilliant DJ sets to Dubai, Miami (WMC), Sweden, France, Australia, Poland and Denmark. Later this year Bodyrox fans can look forward to several more huge releases including Nick and Jon’s follow up to ‘Yeah Yeah’ - ‘What Planet You On’ and their huge remake of 'Sound of Eden' that has already warded off the ‘one-hit-wonder’ doomsdayers, taking out the top spot on both the DMC Buzz Chart and Cool Cuts chart. You haven’t heard the last from Nick Bridges!
